Department of Environmental and Technological Studies

Environmental and Technological Studies

${alt}

We prepare our graduates for careers in which they will define, assess and solve our society's environmental and technological problems. We give them experiences that promote environmental and technological literacy and equip them to understand the connections between science, technology, society and the environment.

We do that with an interdisciplinary curriculum, connections to professional organizations, a strong system of industry-centered advisory boards and a variety of learning opportunities and experiences in the classroom, laboratory, field, internships and research.

The programs in the department include:

  • Environmental Science
  • Environmental Studies
  • Manufacturing Engineering Technology
  • Technology Education
  • Construction Management
  • Industrial Technology

Our faculty are actively involved with outreach projects both on and off campus including Project Lead the Way, MTEEA, ITEEA, Huskies Invent, Husky Make It Space, and the TEC Network.

We have partnered with CentraCare to produce face shields in our Husky Make It Space for the health care workers. We are using our 3D printers to produce the head piece and laser engravers to make the face piece. The goal is to produce 750 per week.

We would encourage teachers and students around the state to reach out to their local clinics, hospitals and fire responders to see if there is a need in their community.

We have posted the files to the right for you to produce them to meet your local needs. If you have any questions or need additional information, contact Kurt Helgeson: krhelgeson@somechan.net or 320-308-3127.

Working together we can make a difference during these difficult times. This could not have been done without the partnership we have with H2I and Stratasys Inc. They have provided materials, equipment, and technical support on this and several of our other projects.
